What you will need for this step
For one half:
- 1 x PCB
- 1 x top plate
- 29 x switches
- 29 x keycaps
- 1 x knob
Assemble
- Snap a few switches into the top plate, the corner switches work best
- Place the PCB on a flat surface. This will save some strain on the solder joints in the next step (though they should be able handle it).
- Carefully lower the top plate with switches on the main PCB and push into sockets. Ensure pins are aligned.
- Snap the remaining switches into the top plate pressing into the sockets.
- There are no standoffs between the PCB and top plate
- Place the encoder knob on the shaft. Lift the knob a few millimetres. Tighten the set screw with a hex key. A small screwdriver for eye glasses may do in a pinch. Press the knob down. You should feel a button click. If not, you may need to loosen the set screw and raise the knob a bit higher.
- Put adhesive rubber feet in the corners so the keyboard does not move when you type.
