What you will need for this step

For one half:

• 30 x SMT diodes
• Tweezers
• Magnifying glass or phone with zoom (optional)
• Soldering iron and solder

Install the diodes

These components are placed on the bottom of the PCB.

Diodes must be oriented with the white band in the direction of the “arrow” symbol on the PCB. Use a magnifying glass or the zoom on your phone camera to see the small markings.

I typically:

• tin one pad
• place the diode using tweezers
• apply the soldering iron to the diode leg until it melts the solder underneath and sinks flush with the PCB
• solder the other leg
